知識點連結:

1. But now they have less and less land to live on.但他們現在可以居住的地方越來越少。

（1）less是little 的比較級。

（2）to live on不定式短語，在此句中作land 的定語，意爲“可居住的”。起形容詞的作用，在英語中，動詞不定式作後置定語，修飾前面的名詞或代詞時，他們之間構成邏輯上的動賓關係，若動詞爲不及物動詞，要在其後加相應的介詞。

（e.g） Do you have something to read?你有可讀的（刊物）嗎？

Would you like something to drink?你想喝點什麼嗎？

I need a pen to write with.我要一支筆寫。（write with與pen形成邏輯上的動賓關係,with不可省。

2. They are in danger now.他們現在處於危險之中。

In danger處在危險中

3. They are the oldest type of tigers living in the world.他們是世界上存在的最古老的虎種。

現在分詞短語living in the world作後置定語，放在被修飾的詞的後面。

（e.g） Do you know the boy talking to our English teacher?你認識和我們英語老師談話的那個男孩嗎？

4. The plants in the countryside are more beautiful than those in the city.

Those代替的是前面提到的plants,以避免重複。若代替的是單數可數名詞或不可數名詞，則用that .

(e.g) The temperature in Chongqing is much higher than that inQjiang.
