注意點 同學們要透過聽、說、讀、寫的訓練達到運用本單元內容的目的。

聽:聽懂並識別具體細節和主要內容。

說:運用can 談論能力。

讀:培養運用推理的閱讀技巧。

寫:爲特定的讀者及某一具體目的寫一封正式的推薦信。

Ⅱ. 重點單詞、詞組及短語詳解

【詳解筆記】

1. superdog 名詞,超級狗

[注意] super- 在構詞法中稱爲前綴,表示“上等的,特大的,特級的”,和其他詞構成一個新詞。

[拓展] super+market=supermarket 超市 super+man=superman 超人

2. clean up 打掃乾淨

[注意] up 這個副詞常跟在動詞後面,表示“徹底地,完全地”。

[典型例句] Be sure to lock up the door.. 務必把門鎖好。

[拓展] clean up 還有消除有害影響的意思

[典型例句] The police are trying their best to clean up the environment around schools.

警方正盡力整治周邊的環境。

3. Visiting a home for the elderly 拜訪老年公寓

[注意]定冠詞the+形容詞表示一類人。例:

the young 年輕人, the rich 富人,the poor窮人

[典型例句] Do not laugh at the poor. 不要嘲笑窮人。

4. hear someone shouting‘Fire!Fire!’聽見有人喊“火災!火災!”

[注意]hear sb. doing sth. 表示聽見某人正在做某事,強調主語聽時,某人正在做。

類似的詞組還有:see/watch/find sb. doing sth.(看見/注意到/發現某人正在做某事)。

[典型例句]When I was walking on the road, I heard a girl crying outside a shop.

當我正走在路上時,聽見了一個女孩在商店外哭。

[拓展] hear/see/watch 後面還可以跟動詞原形(但find不可),表示“看見/注意到/聽見(某人做事的整個過程)”。

[辨析] My father was watching me drawing pictures when someone knocked at the door.

當某人敲門時,我爸爸正在看我畫畫。

此句強調正在畫畫這一動作。

Mum watched her son cross the street and go into the school.

媽媽看着兒子穿過馬路走進學校

此句強調過馬路這一整個過程。

點撥: 此題對照詞組see sb. do/doing ,故答案應是C.

[拓展]hear 常用的詞組還有: hear of 聽說……, hear from 收到……的來信(消息)

5. the 7-year-old Mr. Sun 79的孫先生

[注意]79-year-old 是用連字元連接起來的一個詞,通常作定語。要注意的是此時year必須用單數。例:an eight-meter-deep river

[辨析]He is ten years old. 他十歲。

這裏ten years old 指年齡,作表語。

He is a ten-year-old boy. 他是個十歲的男孩。

這裏ten-year-old 是個形容詞,作定語。

[典型例題]--Dad, when will you be free? You agreed to go to the seaside with me four days ago.

點撥: 此題需填一個形容詞,表示“四天的”,故選B。

out the fire 撲滅火

[注意]put out 意爲撲滅

[典型例句]It took them 2 hours to put out the fire.他們花了2小時撲滅了這場火。

[拓展]put out 還有伸出的意思。

[典型例句]He put out his hands to welcome me.他想向我伸出歡迎的手。

[拓展]put 常用的詞組還有put away:放好,存放,藏好(某物)put down :放下,擱下

put into: 把……放入,把……灌入 put on:穿上,戴上 put up : 舉起(手),升起(帆、旗)

[注意]fire 名詞,意爲火,火災,爐火

[辨析]Fire can be very dangerous. 火可能非常危險。此句解釋爲火,是不可數名詞。

 We make a fire in winter to get warm. 此句解釋爲爐火,是可數名詞。

[注意]bring sb. sth.帶給某人某物。Bring是動詞,後跟人稱代詞的賓格。

[拓展]bring sb. sth. 帶給某人某物 bring sth. to sb.帶某物給某人

[辨析]Please bring some chairs when you come next time.當你下次來時,帶幾把椅子來。

這句句子表示把椅子拿到說話人方向。

Please take these new books to the classroom.把這些新書帶到教室去。

這句句子表示把新書拿到遠離說話人方向。

[典型例題]You mustn't forget your dictionary when you come tomorrow.

點撥: 很明顯這裏把字典拿到說話人方向。故答案A。

8. be careful with 小心處理

[拓展]be careful with/of/about sth./in doing sth.意爲“仔細做某事,小心處理,當心/警惕某事”

[典型例句]Be careful with these new cups. Don't break them. 拿這些新杯子的時候小心些。別打碎了。

Be careful of the dog. It sometimes bites people.小心那隻狗。它有時會咬人。

Be careful (in) crossing the street.過馬路時要小心。

9. join us 成爲我們中的一員

[注意]join 是動詞,後跟人稱代詞的賓格。

[拓展]常見的詞組有join the army:參軍 join the club:加入俱樂部

join 後跟“人”表示和某人一起參加活動。如:

I'd like to join you for the interesting game.我想和你們一起玩這個有趣的遊戲。

join in (doing) sth.解釋爲“參加某活動”,如:

Ask him to join in the class activity.請他參加班級活動吧。

10. read about 讀關於……

[注意]read 這裏是不及物動詞,read about/of sb./sth. 表示“透過閱讀發現某人/事的情況。”

[典型例句]I read about the superstar in the magazine.我在這本雜誌上看到了有關這位明星的報道。

[辨析] read 也可以作不及物動詞。

[典型例句]She can read and write well.她有很好的讀寫能力。

better 轉好

[注意]better 這裏是形容詞well 的比較級,表示身體好。

[辨析]I don't feel very well. well這裏是形容詞,表示身體好

She likes music and she plays the piano well. well 這裏是副詞,修飾動詞。

e the stove on 讓爐子燃着

[注意]leave在這裏表示“使某人/謀事一直處於某種狀態”;on 做副詞,表示在接通/使用中

[典型例句]Don't leave the door open.別讓門開着。

The TV is always on when I am at home. 我在家的時候,總是開着電視。

ly 形容詞,可能的

[注意]likely是形容詞,意爲“可能的”

[拓展]be likely to do 可能要幹謀事

[辨析]It is likely to rain tonight. 今天夜裏很可能會下雨。

It is like a cat. 它像一隻貓。

14. something hot 熱的東西

[注意]形容詞hot 放在不定代詞something 的後面。

[典型例句]I have something new for you.我有些新東西給你。

[拓展]形容詞修飾nothing, something等複合不定代詞,必須放在這些不定代詞之後,如anything interesting, nothing important等。

[典型例題]Do you have to say? (2004年婁底市中考)

15. think of 想,想到

[注意]think of sth./doing sth. 意爲想到,有時可與think about 換用。

[拓展]think of 還含有(對……)看法之意。

[典型例句]What do you think of the TV play? 你認爲那部電視劇怎樣?

think 常有的詞組還有 think over 仔細考慮  think out 想出 think about 考慮,想到

sb. to be 告訴/要求某人……

[注意] sb. to be/do中間的to 不可少,其否定形式爲tell sb. not to be/do

[典型例句]The teacher tell the students not to be late for school.老師要求學生上學不遲到。

His mother told him not to watch TV .媽媽要求他不看電視。

[典型例題]The teacher told us not in the sun.(2004年婁底市中考)

點撥:此題很明顯tell sb. not to do sth. 應該填to do, 故答案是B.

[拓展]tell 還可意爲“辨別、推斷”

【詳解筆記】

[注意] 句中79-year-old Mr. Sun 作her neighbour 的同位語,表示兩者所指爲同一人。

[典型例句] The famous dancer, Mr. Brown , will give us a talk on how to dance to disco.

著名舞蹈演員布郎先生,將給我們作一次關於如何隨迪斯科音樂跳舞的講座。

句中Mr. Brown 作 the famous dancer 的同位語。

2. She put out the fire with a blanket and helped Mr. Sun out.

她用毯子撲滅火併救出了Sun 先生。

[注意] with 在該句中的意思是“用(工具、方法、材料等)”

[典型例句] He is writing a letter with his new pen.

5. Do you know what happened to Wang Fang?

你知道王芳發生什麼事了嗎?

[注意] what happened to…在句中作know 的賓語。因爲是句子作賓語,所以what happened to……. 又稱爲賓語從句。

[典型例句] I can guess what he is doing now.

我能猜到他在幹什麼。

[注意] sth. happened to sb. 表示某人發生某事,sb. 放在to 後面。

[典型例句] What has happened to Jim? 吉姆發生了什麼?

6. I'm sure that I 'll lose the game within 10 minutes.

我肯定10分鐘內我將輸掉比賽。

[注意] 句型 be sure (that) +從句,表示……是肯定的。

[典型例句] Are you sure she has lost it? 你肯定她已經輸了嗎?

[拓展] be sure to do sth.表示“務必一定要做某事”, be sure of sth. 表示確信某事。

make sure 與 be sure 表示的意思相近。

[典型例句] I'm sure he will come.=I make sure he will come. 我確信他會來的。

1. Can

⑴ 表示能力,“能,會”。

〔典型例句〕Tom can speak English. 湯姆會說英語。

〔注意〕 can的否定式爲 can’t,表示“不能”,過去式中用 could和 couldn’t

〔典型例句〕 She couldn’t ride a bike when she was three years old.

她三歲時不會騎車。

〔典型例題〕 ---- Can you write a letter in English? (北京)

點撥:此題考查情態動詞can 的用法,can 表示“能力”,否定回答爲can’t 故選 C.

⑵ 表示推測,“可能”。

⑶ 表示請求許可,不如may正式,常用於口語。

〔注意〕can和 could藹都表示現在,用could比用can語氣更加委婉客氣。

點撥:may和can 用來徵求許可,此題明顯在徵求對方的許可,是否可用一下車子,故選 B。

2. May/might

⑴ 表示請求許可或徵詢對方許可,表示“可以”的意思,常與第一人稱“I”連用。 May I … ? 回答時,一般肯定回答用 Yes, you may.,否定回答用No, you can’t 或No, you mustn’t.。

〔典型例句〕 May I come in? 我可以進來嗎?

〔注意〕 might的語氣比 may 更委婉,用在疑問句中有羞怯的意思。

〔典型例句〕Might I ask for another cup of tea? 我可以再要一杯咖啡嗎?

〔典型例題〕---- _____ I go out to play now, mum ?

⑵.may/might 表示可能性,推測,常用於肯定句,沒有must 語氣強。表示推測的可能性較大時用 may ;might含有懷疑或猶豫的意思。
