1 work on (doing) sth致力於,從事於;起作用

eg, work on a new book寫一本新書/ work on a cure for AIDS致力於艾滋病的療法

His charm doesn’t work on me.(doesn’t affect or impress me)他的魅力對我不起作用。

對比:work on從事某項工作(創作、研究、設計、……)。

work at學習,研習;在……下功夫。

Eg,I'm working hard at my study/lessons. 我正在努力學習。

work out 解決出,計算出;制定(方案,計劃);結果(順利);鍛鍊

eg,Things worked out quite well.事情的結果很不錯。

I work out regularly to keep fit.我經常鍛鍊保持健康。

2 in store(爲防備而)貯藏,準備着;將要發生,出現

eg, The runner kept some energy in store for crossing the finish line.
