【基礎知識精講】

I’m afraid I may be a little late.恐怕我可能要晚一些。

(1)may是情態動詞，表示可能性。如:

①He may be at his office.他也許在辦公室。

②May I borrow your ruler？我能借你的尺嗎？

(2)a little用法有:

①修飾可數名詞(單數)，意指“小而可愛”。

There is a little boy near the river.河邊有個小男孩。

②修飾不可數名詞，意爲“有點點”，“有些”。

I have a little food with me.我隨身有點食品。

③修飾大小、輕重等表示程度，意爲:“有點點”，“稍有點”。

The skirt doesn’t fit me，it’s a little small.這裙子不合我身，它有些小。

She can’t lift the box. It’s a little heavy.她舉不起盒子，有點重。

d you like to come？你願意來嗎？

Would you like to do sth.或 would you like sth.用來徵求對方意見或邀請。爲:

Would you like a cup of tea？你願意要杯茶嗎？

Would you like to go with me？你願意和我一塊去嗎？

e’s no time to think！沒時間思考了！

①There’s no time to do sth.沒時間做某事了。如:

There’s no time to have breakfast.沒時間吃早飯了。

不定式作賓語修飾前面的名詞，這種現象在英語中非常多，如:

Do you have anything to say？你有要說的嗎？

We have a lot of things to do.我有許多事要做。

②no=not a或 not any.

We have no sweaters for you.我們沒有運動衣給你。

4.…said Ann with a／big smile.安帶着笑臉說。

(1)這是個倒裝句，當引用的話放在前面時常這樣。如:

“Thank you for your inviting” I said.“but I have to ask my mother.”

“非常謝謝你的邀請”，我說，“可是我得問問我媽媽。”

(2)with意思指“伴隨”，“附有”，如:

①to go out with no hat on不戴帽子出去。

②With a word:“Goodbye”， he left he office.說了聲“再見”，他離開了辦公室。

(1)當別人祝生日快樂或誇你時，應答語常用:Thank you.

(2)當別人在某節日場合向你祝賀時，應答語常用:The same to you.如:新年到來，兒童節時。

6.I’m going to have a party.我要開個聚會。

have可與其它詞構成許多短語，爲:

have a look看一看，have a class上課，have a swim游泳，

have a rest休息，have a good time玩得高興，have a meeting開會

have a walk散步，have a talk談話，have breakfast在吃早餐

have lessons上課

7.I’m sorry to hear that.聽到此我很遺憾。

當聽到別人之不幸或不能令人滿意之事時，常說此句話。

I take a message？我能帶個口信嗎？

take a message後接介詞短語for sb.(爲某人)或 to sb.(給某人)

①Can I take a message for him？我能爲他捎個口信嗎？

②I asked him to take a message to my sister.我請他給我妹妹帶個口信。

e was nothing but a card in it.裏面除了一張卡外什麼也沒有。

but“除卻”，如:

I can live anywhere but here.除卻這裏，無論哪裏我都能住。

【重點難點解析】

’t forget to tell Jim.別忘了告訴吉姆。

(1)forget“忘記”，反義詞爲 remember“記住、記得”。它們的用法有:

①forget to do sth.“忘記做某事”(把要做的某事給忘了)。如:

I forgot to buy meat..我忘記買肉了。

②forget doing sth.“忘記做了某事”。(做過某事但忘記了)。如:

I forgot telling him.我忘記告訴過他了。

(2)say，speak，talk，tell都有說、講意思，但用法上有區別:

①say“說”，着重說的內容。

②speak“說”、“講”，着重說的動作，說語言的能力。

③talk“談”、“報告”，常用於交談或作報告。

④tell“告訴”、“講述”，着重告訴或講故事等。如:

The baby can say but can’t speak.這嬰兒會說但不會講話。

He’s talking about a car show.他正在講一個車展。

He’s always telling stories.他總是講故事。

2.I hope you can come to my party next Sunday.我希望你下週日能來參加我的聚會。

英語中向別人提出邀請，常用I hope you can…或Would you like／love to…？(參觀上文2)等。應答語有:

①表示願意時常用:Thanks for…或I’d like／love to或 I’m glad to或I’d very happy to或 How nice等。

②表示不能或不願意常用:I’m very sorry, but…或I’d like/love to, but...或Thank you，but…或 sorry，I can’t.

I speak to Ann，please？請安接電話好嗎？

(1)英語中表示請求、請示可用 May／Could I…？(禮貌的請求)Can I…？

在熟人之間或非正式場會肯合答語有:

Yes，do please或 Yes或 Certainly或Of course或 That’s OK或That’s all right.

否定答語有:

I’m sorry but…或You’d better not…。

(2)這是一個打電話時的常用語。其答語可根據情況有:

①This is Ann speaking／Ann here／Ann speaking／speaking我就是安。

②I’m afraid she’s out／not here.她不在。

③Certainly/Wait a minute/just a moment please.請稍等。

mber 21 was Becky’s fourteenth birthday.十二月二十一日是 Becky的十四歲生日。

表示“多少歲的生日”常用“序數詞+birthday”。比較:

Today is my sixteenth birthday(正確)

Tomorrow is my eight birthday(錯誤)

e on the desk she found her present.在桌子上她發現了她的禮物。

這是個倒裝句。正常語序爲:She found her present on the desk.

here there常使句子倒裝。如:Here comes the bus.車來了。

因爲當Ann問你:Did you have a good weekend？第一空句應根據下文判斷回答I’m afraid not.接下來問Why…？應回答:Oh，I’m sorry. I forgot it.再接下來一空句應爲具體原因的說明:I didn’t pass the exam last night. I had to work at the weekend.然後對方祝願I hope…，下一空句應回答:Thank you，I will.當然，這些答案並非唯一，要視具體情況而定。
