本單元的核心話題是描述動物和表達個人喜好，以及句式why do you like…？Because…。這也是本單元的教學重點。透過本單元的學習，學生應能較流利地運用所學詞彙和句型描述動物，表達個人喜好。

單元學情分析

學生此前已經學過由why, where, what 引導的特殊疑問句句型，具有了學習本單元知識的認知前提。形形色色的動物能激發學生的好奇心，產生了解它們的慾望，這有利於本單元知識的教學和學生學習興趣的培養。

單元教學建議

充分利用簡筆畫，教學圖片，多媒體等教學手段和工具，創設談論動物的情景，使學生能有儘量多的機會動口說，動筆寫，以熟練掌握所學知識，提高聽、說、讀、寫的綜合素質。

學生學習有關動物的知識，已具備了相當的情感基礎，且學生已有了一定的英語知識，有能力學習本課內容。透過What’s your favourite animal? 引入教學充分利用教學圖片和多媒體，創設情景讓學生由參與學習的慾望，引導他們主動學習。

透過身體語言和圖片等學習描述性形容詞，既直觀形象，又能提高學生的學習興趣。再加以深化聯繫，學生自然會掌握這些詞彙，對話練習可以先用圖片引導學生整體操練，再進行分組練習。
