2015年世界溼地日主題及歷年主題

1996年3月《溼地公約》常務委員會第19次會議決定，爲了提高人們維護溼地的意識。從1997年起，將每年的2月2日定爲“世界溼地日”

這一天，每年的'2月2日爲世界溼地日(WorldWetlandDai這是國際溼地組織於1996年3月確定的從1997年開始。世界各國都舉行不同形式的活動來宣傳維護自然資源和生態環境。1971年2月2日，歷時8年之久，一個旨在維護和合理利用全球溼地的公約《關於特別是作爲水禽棲息地的國際重要溼地公約 簡稱《溼地公約》伊朗拉姆薩爾簽署。爲了紀念這一創舉，並提高公衆的溼地意識，1996年《溼地公約》常委委員會第19次會議決定，從1997年起，每年的2月2日定爲“世界溼地日”

來自18個國家的代表在伊朗南部海濱小城拉姆薩爾簽署了一個旨在維護和合理利用全球溼地的公約—關於特別是作爲水禽棲息地的國際重要溼地公約》ConventonWetlandofInternatImportancEspecialasWaterfowlHabitat簡稱《溼地公約》該公約於1975年12月21日正式生效，1971年2月2日。至2006年2月，有147個締約方。

2007年：溼地與魚類(Wetlands and Fisheries)

2008年：健康的溼地，健康的人類 (Healthy Wetland, Healthy People)

2009年：從上游到下游，溼地連着你和我 (Upstream-Downstream: Wetlands connect us all )

2010年：溼地、生物多樣性與氣候變化(Wetland, biodiversity and climate change)

2011年：森林與水和溼地息息相關(Forest and water and wetland is closely linked)

2012年：溼地與旅遊(Wetlands and Tourism)
